School Is Essential

Children face enormous academic and social emotional challenges everyday due to COVID-19. We are here to support them.

ABOUT US

We are a community organization based in Bellevue which played a major role in bringing in-person learning option to all students of Washington in the spring of 2021.

In addition to our advocacy on behalf of students and families, our 1,800+ diverse members have also served on the frontline during the pandemic, sourced and donated PPEs to the community, established learning pods, and helped secure early access to vaccines for our educators.

Washington ranked at the bottom of the nation in terms of in-person learning opportunities for students. Experiences across the nation and the globe have shown that school can open safely.

Attending school in person is essential for the mental and physical health of children and teens and for their ability to receive a meaningful education, including for social emotional learning.

Families are left out of the discussions on many issues concerning their schools including re-opening. Transparency and accountability are paramount in fostering trust between districts and the community.

Follow the Science

Our knowledge of COVID and the impact of school closure is fast evolving. Decisions need to be made based on scientific facts and not to be dictated by emotional attachment to outdated perceptions.
